  • Samiya Abdi: a health promotion consultant with Public Health Ontario, and works alongside public health units and community groups to address health equities and social determinants of health at organizational and community levels, and in the past, has a rich history of bringing awareness to health inequities in her work with the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health, and Health Nexus.
  • Rebecca Fortin: a mid-career health promoter who has championed the Health Promoter Competencies, was instrumental in initiating the Health Promotion Canada network, and has been advocating for the social determinants of health and health equity in her former positions at Region of Peel Public Health Unit, the Ontario Public Health Association (to mention a few), and more recently as a fellow in journalism at the Munk School of Global Affairs.
